Supporting Local Businesses Drive to Zero Waste
Hope Moulded Polystyrene (HMP) is supporting locally owned businesses across Nelson & Tasman in becoming more environmentally conscious.

Many companies face the ongoing challenge of reducing landfill waste, particularly due to the large volumes of polystyrene packaging used to protect products and equipment. HMP plays a key role in tackling this issue by recovering and reusing the polystyrene. HMP carefully compacts the polystyrene for export, where it is reused to manufacture many products. This process not only eliminates a significant waste stream but also reduces the demand for new raw materials.

Thanks to these partnerships, businesses have significantly reduced their landfill contributions—often by 50 to 66 percent. Combined with other sustainability initiatives, this has helped many local companies lower their carbon footprint and operate more responsibly.
